This lovely couple had their wedding ceremony reception at the beautiful Ruffles Lodge on the Gold Coast hinterland. Unfortunately, light showers on their wedding day meant that they couldn’t have the outside wedding overlooking the Gold Coast beaches that they had planned. However, the rain cleared in time for the breath-taking dove release and to enable some beautiful sunset portraits, complete with a rainbow sunset.
The dove release was a lot of fun. I spent some time beforehand trying to establish the best shutter speed, so we had the doves clear and wing blur on the release. But the best tip came from the dove handler who said to shoot fast as soon as the doves are released, because they go straight up, really fast, and they sure did!
One nice touch, was that a dove laid an egg in the holding cage before it’s release. Apparently this is really good luck and this was the first time the handler had seen it happen!
So with the rain and the dove egg, this couple should have a beautifully blessed wedding!
